ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA SILVER TETRADRACHM COIN. The only coin they ever minted together. 36-34 B.C.

"Cleopatra (Cleopatra VII) was the last ruler, and a direct descendant of Ptolemy I, Alexander's friend and General. With her paramour, Mark Antony, she resisted the inevitable encroachments of Rome against Egypt, led by the nephew of Julius Caesar, Octavian (later named Augustus). Their failure has become the stuff of legend. Alexander's world, was now for the most part Roman. Yet under Rome, his legacy would live on."

Antony and Cleopatra's well-known love story ended not only their lives but the Hellenistic age as well, beginning the age of Roman domination. This almost pure silver coin bears the likeness of both Antony and Cleopatra. Extremely rare, it was minted about 36-34 B.C. in Antioch, a city of ancient Syria, a vacation destination for the couple.
